We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do (and don't do) with it. We've kept the legalese to a minimum.
What we collect
Better Shape collects minimal data:
- Contact form submissions: When you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, and the message you send. This is used solely to respond to your inquiry.
- Newsletter subscriptions: If you subscribe to our email list, we store your email address and send you notifications when we publish new content.
- Anonymous analytics: We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which articles are read most. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
- Technical data: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) are retained for security and troubleshooting purposes.
What we do with it
- Respond to your questions and feedback.
- Send you newsletter emails (only if you've subscribed).
- Improve our content based on which articles are most useful.
- Prevent abuse and maintain site security.
What we don't do
This is important:
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not share your email with advertisers.
- We do not use tracking pixels from social media platforms.
- We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
- We do not use your data to train AI models.
Cookies
Better Shape uses minimal cookies:
- Essential cookies: Required for the site to function (e.g., remembering your menu state on mobile).
- Analytics cookies: Used to measure aggregate traffic. No personally identifiable data is stored.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or third-party tracking cookies beyond what's described above.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services that may process limited data:
- Google Fonts: Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Google may receive your IP address as part of this request.
- Analytics provider: A privacy-respecting analytics tool that processes aggregate, anonymized traffic data.
We do not integrate with advertising networks, social media tracking, or data brokers.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time (link included in every email).
- Opt out of analytics tracking (most tools offer browser-level opt-outs).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months for reference, then deleted. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is aggregated and retained indefinitely in anonymized form.
Children's privacy
Better Shape is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data through our contact form, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be noted on this page with an updated "last updated" date. We will not materially reduce your privacy protections without notice.
